So I totally confused Maira Kalman's series with Rutu Modan's when I talked about the grandmother-mother-daughter relationship yesterday. The Modan stuff is also on the Times' blog. (I already edited it out). I only realized that today after finishing the Kalman book and none of the grandmom thing appeared... Hehe.. how embarrassing. But it's still a wonderful book. The last few pieces were, as one commentator put it on her blog, devastating. And I'd highly recommend the Modan series as well, which is less poetic but sharper.
